Ziva Cohen

Ziva has studied Spanish dance and flamenco with numerous teachers in the United States and Spain. She has performed extensively in the Washington, DC area, and, at times, in other major U.S. cities where she has been applauded for her artistic and technical brilliance as a flamenco dancer and choreographer. She was a panelist on the Maryland State Arts Council Dance Advisory Panel from 2001 through 2003.

Choreography

Teaching
Ziva teaches numerous flamenco classes from beginner to advanced levels.

Ziva is a ‘Teaching Artist’ that brings the art of Spanish music and dance to the school systems of Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. Her specialty training and continuous classroom coursework sponsored by Washington Performing Arts Society (WPAS) and DC Arts & Humanities Education Collaborative over the past several years has qualified her for this title.

She also has taught flamenco in after-school programs for local schools with students ranging in age from 8 years old through the mid teens.

Megan McGill

Megan McGill* is a dance teacher and choreographer. She has studied flamenco and performed with Ziva for over eight years. Megan currently teaches flamenco, hip-hop, and jazz at the Ziva's School of Dance. She has appeared the Warner Theater, Arena Stage and Lisner Auditorium. She has also choreographed performances of The Full Monte and Pippen at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Auditorium in Rockville, MD. She presently teaches dance at St. John’s College High School and at Joy of Dance in Virginia.


Jorge Navarro

Jorge Navarro began his instruction in flamenco dance at the age of 12 with Enrique El Cojo. He later studied with the El Maestro Ciro, Rosario Galán, and El Guito. His involvement in flamenco, classical Spanish dance and baile espanol spans more than thirty years. Mr. Navarro divides his time between Washington and New York City. Antonio Hidalgo
Antonio Hidalgo began his professional career in the flamenco festivals of Cordoba, Spain. In 1984, Antonio became a member of the Spanish Ballet of Carmen Mota, which toured Italy, France, Monte Carlo, South America and the United States. The company also performed frequently throughout Spain. In 1990, Antonio became an independent solo dancer. Since that time, he has performed with various dance companies in the Costa del Sol and in flamenco tablaos. He has directed and choreographed several flamenco productions including, among others, "Fiesta de Andalucia" in Spain and "Palais des Beaux Arts" in Brussels. He has performed with the ballet of Antonio Gades, the ballet of Jose Greco, the "Tablao El Flamenco" in Japan, and Maria Benitez' "Estampa Flamenca." He has made frequent appearances on international television stations. He has performed, with his own dance company, in Japan and in many venues in Spain. Antonio began working with "Flamenco Vivo Carlotta Santana" in 1998. Antonio's choreographies and performances were premiered to great acclaim in "Flamenco Vivo Carlotta Santana" at The Joyce Theater in New York City in 2001 and 2002.

Pilar Andújar
Pilar Andujar graduated with superior degrees in Spanish and classical dance from the Real Professional Academy of Dance in Madrid and The Conservatory of Dance of Paco Romero and Aida Gomez. She studied flamenco extensively with master instructors Ciro, Maria Magdalena, Rafaela Carrasco, Alejandro Granados, and Antonio Canales. She also studied folk dance with Maestro Pedro Azorin. Ms. Andujar is an internationally acclaimed performer and teacher currently based in Madrid.
